The Dumbest Generation

The article makes good points on how now in the 21st century people rely on electronics. People today do not even need to buy news papers because there is now internet on cell phones. Communication with cell phones has changed soo much over the years. People use cells phones when they are simply separated from someone for only a couple of minutes. Texting has changed communication drasticly. If cell phones did not cut off communication enough, now people don't even hear the voice on the other line. It seems like in todays world people are in such a rush every where they go. People drive faster, communication is easier, and gettin and receiving information from around the world can be done with such ease and very quickly. Even a simple convorsation to see how someone is doing can be done through text. Its like people dont have the time to slow down, sit down and have a convorsation with an old friend or family members. It is so easy to keep in touch with distant family or old friends with the internet these days. Facebook type websites and email are used by a lot of people. Leaving a small message and keeping in touch is easily done. I believe it is great how communication is so easy because staying in touch isn't always easy. Keeping in touch with friends from high school is always fun and seeing them when were all back in town is a great time.

Scholar Athletes

This article states some very good points about scholar athletes. The NCAA calls these kids "student athletes" but it seems like the athletic part is higher in priorities than the school part. If you look at the words "student athlete", the student comeds first. All these kids are playing for the love of the game and majoring in something other then sports. Athletes always have the dream of making it to the big leagues. Playing professional anything is always an athletes dream playing in a huge arena infront of thousands of fans. The student need to relize the how small the percentage is of athletes that make it to the big leauges. Majority of student athletes do much more with their lives than play professonal sports.

The Carroll Life

I am a freshman at Carroll University and so far I love it. Classes have been very interesting and the professors have been very helpful with getting use to the college life. The college life definatly have a lot of distractions such as computer games, new friends, and movie nights. Hanging out with new friends is so much fun. I enjoy being with everyone and it's so hard to walk away and do the important stuff like homework, studying, or blogging. Playing on the computer is a big distraction too. You just start searching on youtube for funny videos and next thing you know, you have been on youtube for two hours. Being here at Carroll has been a lot of fun and I am so happpy with my decision on coming here.
